In the autumn of 2011, during my first year as a middle school art teacher, I frequently visited a nearby recycling plant with the intention of repurposing plastics into student artwork. Although the plant had strict policies regarding the distribution of materials, I was delighted to discover that they assisted me in raising funds to donate art supplies to my classroom.

With the surplus art supplies, I designed a unit centered around the renowned artist Jackson Pollock, emphasizing his unique technique of employing coordinated movements around a canvas rather than traditional wall painting. Originally, I digitized this artwork as a lesson template for future students. However, I couldn’t help but be captivated by its beauty after demonstrating the technique to a sixth-grade class.
