The Beverly Hills neighborhoods I explored during my afternoon walks were adorned with remarkably exquisite plants, bushes, and trees that were just as abundantly as dandelions back in Texas. Despite the ongoing pandemic, I knew I didn’t have to go far to immerse myself in the beauty of my surroundings.

In this image, I wanted to combine impressionist and abstract expressionist art styles to capture the nature I was being exposed to everyday during the pandemic. In my research on central figures within each art movement, I found Vincent Van Gogh and Jackson Pollock seemed to be excellent sources for extreme painting textures. The rhythmic movements found in Jackson Pollock’s “Mural” (1943) and Vincent Van Gogh’s “Irises” (1889) would be sampled to evoke the same dynamic energy experienced while strolling past the many opulent landscapes of my neighborhood during the pandemic.
