While exploring the streets of San Francisco for the first time, I was captivated by the discovery of stunning wild plants thriving in even the tiniest nooks and crannies of the city. It was a pleasant surprise, juxtaposed with the unexpected impression of encountering an abundance of sidewalks and scattered trash in certain neighborhoods. Despite this, wherever there was soil, nature found a way to flourish. I stumbled upon a sight of Seaside Daisies, growing tenaciously in a gutter amidst the presence of glass shards, cigarette butts, scattered trash, and plastic debris.

In this image, I wanted to visually depict the juxtaposition of nature coexisting within the confines of San Francisco—a city often regarded as an economically utopian environment. I aimed to portray how nature perseveres amidst the taming of the urban landscape, asserting its presence despite the surrounding elements that attempt to confine it.
