A companion and I ventured into an underground jazz club nestled in the heart of downtown Austin. Despite the chill in the air outside, the melodic tunes of the saxophone and the gentle glow of candles placed at each table offered a comforting warmth and a sense of security. As my companion cupped her hands around the flame, I witnessed a captivating transformation within the fire, as if it were responding to her touch.

In this painting, my intention was to visually capture the dynamic and energetic connection between two entities engaged in an exchange of energy. To further emphasize this connection, I envisioned utilizing a palette of blue, yellow, and red colors sampled from various sunlight temperatures found across the known universe, ranging from 20,000 to 1,000 degrees Kelvin. Through the inclusion of these hues, my aim was to evoke a feeling of cosmic energy and interconnectedness, representing the profound and unbreakable bond shared between the individuals within the depicted scene.
