I relish the opportunity to dedicate my time to art during quarantine, and I’ve discovered an abundance of ideas flowing through me. Previously, I wondered if a life as an artist would bring as much fulfillment as being a teacher, as I struggled to find enough time to truly focus on my art. However, now that I can pursue it full-time, I find equal meaning and satisfaction in this pursuit.
This portrait depicts my quarantine companion, a French philosopher, engrossed in reading a news article on her laptop. My aim was to visually represent the abstract concepts she was absorbing into her mind, capturing the essence of her deep concentration through fluid lines and arbitrary gestures.
