In early summer, I traveled to visit family and revisit my hometown of Amarillo, Texas. This trip rekindled many memories, including the iconic sight of Tex Randall, a 47-foot tall concrete statue created for a western-wear business in 1959. Tex Randall, who always greeted me on visits to family in Hereford, was a significant part of my childhood. As we drove by, my mom would always make a gun gesture with her hands as she told us to “shoot” at him before he got us first.
In this image, I sought to visually capture the intertwining of Tex Randall’s history and the nostalgia of childhood memories.
