Pacific Grove

I took an extended weekend trip from San Francisco to explore the captivating destinations of Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey. After visiting more than 30 galleries, I felt inspired to creatively respond to the art I saw and how the west coast of California was interpreted through art. Through speaking with local curators, I found that many of Western Europe’s impressionists brought their style and color variety to the Pacific Grove and northern California coast through artists like Arthur Cane and Franz Bischoff in the early 20th century.
