Mixed Media, 2007
22 x 18″

Prior to enrolling in graphic design as a mandatory elective, my knowledge of the subject was rather limited. All I knew was that this academic year would mark a significant shift in my work as an art student, transitioning from traditional manual techniques in a painting studio to a basement computer lab with high-speed processors. Between projects, I engaged in experimental pursuits, delving into the creation of a mixed-media digital painting style that was similar to my traditional style. This endeavor involved attempting to make the same object in several mediums. In this representation, an acrylic, graphite, charcoal, and a failed sketch are rendered digitally.

In this image, my intention was to further explore the visual outcome of blending various artistic mediums to create a unique digital print. It was during this time that I pledged to learn to master this artistic style using traditional tools as a source of inspiration. This artwork represents my first foray into the realm of mixed-media creation within a digital spectrum.
